What Reel for Bass Rod???

seeing as midget is talking about my quicksilver 11'

hey, i have used enough quicksilvers(not yours either) to be able to comment on thir greatness.

Excellent I think I will take a run down my local tackle shops and have a look. The Leeda sounds ok for a cheap rod!! What would you pair it up with? Fixed Spool I was thinking or would a move to a multi be advised with level wind as Eoinmag says he does?

Is there anywhere doing the Greys Bze 3-5oz cheap they all seem to be around the same price no matter where you go £110?

Is the Florida the USA equivalent of the ambassadeur or is there a difference?

Just had a look on Ebay and there is a Bze 3-5os used a couple of times for £70 + £15 p&p would that be a fair price supposed to be as good as new?

for the extra few quid you could get a brand new 1 nifisher.... thats the way i look at it anyway, and thats why ive got big credit card bills :?

if you are lucky you will get a bze for 100 pounds. Grey's do no allow their prices that they lay down to be altered. the Florida mag is an ambassador, they just called it a Florida coz its orange 8) 8) 8) .

go for a fixed spool on the quicksilver and i recommend the okuma interceptor 50. had mine 2 years(which is a long time for me) and i have never cleaned it once and its still running.

I love the multi for spinning now, it seems intimidating but I worked my way from spinning with a really crappy chinese multiplier that I broke pretty quickly then had the confidence to buy the Cardiff and the left hand retrieve is deadly for spinning if you're used to fixed spool. The main thing I find with the multi that sets them apart is the line is no longer twisted and you feed exactly what you want then stop it, so for spinning you can drop a lure over a particular spot and when you reel in there's as good as no slack to take up before you're working the lure, great accuracy basically.

<edit> the next step is to put braid on the spinning multi.

Carefull with spinning using a multi,when u get the hang of it and addicted to it u will start looking to buy more reel.....low profile,round profile,the one that can cast light lure far,the one that cast general lure far....the one that no need an educated thumb yet still u wont get a birdie out of it.....and the list will go on and on...carefull with japanese high end domestic models.....theres too many of them...expensive....but with many feture that u dream of....

Well I already have braid on my Shimano reel that I use with my Sandstorm Fixed spool rod. I like it but have dropped a fish or two due to being too rough and ripping the hook out, am getting used to it with time.
I think the multiplier with braid is the next step, then when I'm able to use braid on the spinning multi I'll put it on the beachcasting ones, lots of people say it's hard work, but I got so much out of switching to multipliers that I think it can be only a good thing to try, it just means I'll have to get myself a bulkspool of braid.

nifisher, L&G Tackle do all the Greys range. Their tackle shop is in Glenoe, Larne. Give Graham a shout and I'm sure he will keep you right. He posts on the forum as the codfather.

If you want his phone number PM me and I'll give it to you. I can honestly say that his tackle is as cheap as you will get in the large mail order companies on the mainland but without the extra on top for postage. That means you can get extra for your hard earned money.
