Triplex range......Fantastic bite recognition and plenty of backbone for casting. Its a very tippy rod which shows bites very well and doesnt shatter baits when horsing it out. I have the 14 foot 5oz, a couple of the lads, Mac and Mick the Painter have 16 foot versions. Im delighted with mine.

Zziplex 3500 range, VMAX F2 plus a load of others depending on your ability/budget.

Daiwa, TDXS range, the older AWB range, Supercasts too.

Greys, PZ match, Syntra, Triplex

Century, Tip tornado, Kompressor match etc.

Cono-flex, Source, nemisis.

Anyfish Anywhere, Beach, Big Beach, Match.

Abu Suveran RX, SX.

To be totally honest, all the main manufacturers produce what can generally be called a match rod, some of them are very good, some of them are overrated. Best thing to do is try as many rods as you can by asking people on the beach after a competition for a wee chuck. Something that looks great in a shop may not suit you or your casting style on the beach.

Know I just dumped alot of options on you but it is too easy to go along with what someone else recommends even though they may not be fishing the sort of venues that you intend to fish.

Are you a member of an angling club or do you fish many competitions?

The only reason I said it's best to try before you buy is because I have tried some VERY expensive rods that got rave reviews in magazines and ended up extremely underwhelmed by them.

just starting, going to give the competitive side a go, may not win much but I'll learn a hell of a lot from the more experience guys and it gives me a great excuse to go away for a days fishing,

any more suggestions, I am looking for one rod that I can use with a multiplier and a fixed spool reel( braid reel, any suggestions) as I may need to switch line depend on the area/tide/weed. once again thanks for all the help.

the anyfish anywhere match is a great all rounder and quite user friendly although its ficking expensive :? .......great bite detection and very capabale of handling serious fish, not that i have handled serious fish :lol:

that is one option, the other is the Grey's triplex, both are over £200.

just upgraded to two new 13ft sandstroms. Got one in August for me brithday and a second last week.

i have been fishing with braid of the beach for two years now in my experience the lighter the tip action the better. stiff rods and braid dont work to well i use 30lb for general beach fishing on a sports mag elite and always use a tapered shock leader the bite indication is unreal last time out i set up a rod with mono and felt like i was using a rubber band not fishing line good luck on the new gear with the amount available its a nightmare choosing anything these days

I'm not a big caster but I can hit 220 on multiplier and 210 yrds on fixed on this rod. A rod that will grow with you. I have a lot of rods but onlyne that I always bring.

I agree a zzipy match rod would be hard to beat for lightnes and feel and balance perfection flip wouldnt mind another 1 mmmmmm zti to 7ft sections mmmmm :roll:

well known authority on rods, described this rod as the best zziplex
