was reading on another sea fishing forum of a report of a 3lb bass being caught at browns bay on ragworm! very suprised to hear one being caught here and if its definately true then it gives hope to alot of people who can't usually travel the distance to fish for bass. i could be at browns bay in about 40 mins. :D

Hmmmm :?:

I would like to be proven wrong but I doubt that a Bass was landed on this beach, it is quite sheltered and does not appear to be a typical Bass beach.

If I am wrong - great because I can get to it in 25 mins.......

What site did you read this on, WSF?

i'm in the same boat mate. i'm still a bass virgin though i haven't tried for them much. bass must be the prize catch in the sea, thats my opinion anyway. i hope this fella drew isn't telling porky pies!!

Only one way to find out Rab...

I might take a wee run up during the week.

There are a load of guys from the forum going uo to Benone tomorrow fishing from 4 - 9 in a wee friendly North Vs South Comp - all welcome - free to fish. The northern team are struggling for numbers.

If you are interested - give it a go. There be Bass on that Benone Beach.....

Bait will be available (I've got extra rag).

it would have appealed to me a couple of years mate. i basically just fish a few hours on a sunday morning now. i still have a strong love for the sport but i'm content with that one days fishing now. i hope that the benone match throws up some good fish, i will be interested in reading the report.

Here's hoping.

There will be a race to put up the first post.....

Schoolie bass are occasionally caught on Browns Bay but not very many. They also turn up from time to time at Carnlough Waterfoot Cushendun Cushendall and Ballycastle but not in large numbers.

Rab,

Browns Bay and Portmuch are about 2 or 3 miles apart. If you go up the Low Road in Islandmagee, you would turn right to go to Portmuck. To get to Browns Bay, stay on the Low Road till you get to the four corner junction ( crossroads with a school on your right hand side ). Turn right here and stay on that road and it will take you all the way to Browns Bay.
