Contact John Stanley in Stanley's Shop (incl. tackle shop), Clifden (095) 21039. He should be able to give pointers to help out.

In Errislannan The White Lady is mentioned on the SAI Shore Marks pages, this is a 6 mile drive from Clifden, plus a 15 - 20 minute 'walk' (bring good wellingtons) to the spot. You can't miss it once you get close, believe me. If you want more details let me know.
I fished this spot for years for wrasse only, but it seems much more is available there, it's at the mouth of Clifden Bay, with a deep, clean sandy bottom. Also has rough ground depending on direction of cast.
At this time of year I have no clue what you might get there (probably not wrasse though).

Omey Strand at Claddaghduff might be worth a look also, it's a large strand that allows access to Omey Island at low tide. I heard of fishing there. Note: if your roving to Omey Island (you can drive) remember to watch the tide or you'll spend many hours staring across at The Strand Bar before getting to order a pint!

I have just uncovered a map of the area from The Western Regional Fisheries Board, compiled by The Central Fisheries Board, do you have it?
If not contact them it's called 'Clifden Area Angling', and includes fresh and sea, or I'll try to help if I can.

I'd love to know how you get on, as even though it's my backyard whenever I get home. We always concentrated on wrasse from shore, I'd love now to know what else is available.

Oh, I thought this was a sea-angling site, I'll be more careful the next time.

Mind you maybe this girl you refer to is from Waterford,
if so she would be able to tell you that lads can means girls or fellas depending where you are in the country.

Any info on the competition?
