Any chance so called guest can reveal their names or are they too professional to be seen in an angling forum
Thu Apr 28, 2005 12:46 pm
ya i agree, not soundy bitchy or anything, but it's pretty pointless just posting an anonymous thread about 300lb bags of ray, and cheating on the east coast. it just looks like all they're trying to do is instigate an arguement, and annoy people in general. it's no way beneficial to the message board at all. sorry that's just my opinion
Thu Apr 28, 2005 1:03 pm
totally agree with you guys you should only be able to post if you are a member!!
Thu Apr 28, 2005 1:45 pm
too professional alright...
Thu Apr 28, 2005 1:54 pm
i was the one who posted about the ray, however i dont see how i was trying to instigate an argument. i was merely trying to give some information about an unbelievable catch of fish. someone previously brought up the topic of a bag of fish weighing 300lb and i replied.
i dont particularly feel the need to register, and even if i did register i wouldnt have to use my own name anyway. whats the difference between someone calling themselves "frodo baggins" and someone who is a guest?
are you trying to say that guests are not welcome to post on this forum?
Thu Apr 28, 2005 2:24 pm
Guest Id have to agree with you! I dont see the difference in posting with a registered name and a guest. Its not as if all registered posters display their real names is it?
Seems to me that alot of you have a hangup about guest posters....maybe its just because they tell it how it is and can say some things that mightnt be too popular on this forum...aka the truth! Just my view!

Too professional ?????????????? :? Are Frodo Baggins, Magelite real names???

Guys n girls. Please can we drop this one now before it deteriorates any further.
There have been numerous antagonistic posts by guests in the past and it does wind people up who visit the site regularly. A lot of sites require you to register before you post. This one doesn't want to deter guests from visiting or even sharing advice, but some of the posts by guests can be seen to be out for trouble.
At least if you are willing to put a name to a post, it reduces the anonymity a little and you can refer to that post. We have had a string of posts by guests before and you can't tell who is writing what!

oh oh, here we go....sorry bilbo, no i'm not saying that guests aren't welcome, i apologise if that's the way it came across, and your point is valid bout using alias's on a forum. but at this stage pretty much everyone knows everyone on this board so it doesn't rellay matter what you call yourself, but if someone visits the forum, and simply posts a new thread about a subject like cheating, and never makes any other contribution to the board regarding advice or tips then it's fair enough to asume that that person is only trying to start an arguement or atleast raise a few pulses. again i apologise about the comment on the rays, but you have to admit, to post such a vague comment and not identify yourself, then it doesn't achieve a whole lot. no one is any the wiser.
as for flounder kings comment about the truth, that isn't a very fair remark. just another example of someone who loves to jump in post a random remark, and take no further part in the discussion. go on flounder king have another dig at me about being a student while you're at it!

If these guests are telling so much 'truth' and so often, why dont they stand behind what they are saying so that everyone else can form their own opinions on how truthful what they are saying actually is?
Of course everyone is entitled to express their opinions but by registering you are respecting everyone else who posted on the particular thread and not just anonymously submitting controversial comments.

Bloody students   all you want to do is start trouble
ps. what was this post originally about?

fair 'nuff...and i agree with Ian this topic is starting to get pretty touchy, it's best that it's left alone

i know mag elite is not a real name!!! didnt mean to cause offence i do think stickin a name to your post is a bit better!!!
My real name is Barry by the way.
Thu Apr 28, 2005 3:29 pm
Reason for using a name is to know your talking to the same person. One of the threads recently had guest 1 complaining about guest 2. Leads to alot less confusion and if your registered member you tend to get a lot less stick for comments that not ill meant are misinterpreted. Other members can pm you with information that they may not want placed on a public forum.

i stand by what i said. he did catch 54 ray...really he did.! if you dont believe me you could always ring the secretary of EFSA. sorry if this seems controversial to you, but i dont think i have said anything so controversial as to warrant any less 'respect' than any registered poster.
i have to agree up to a point with flounderking, in that someone who is registered may not want to say something in case it isn't liked. however i feel that just because someone doesnt like what is being said doesnt mean it is not the truth.
anyway, from now on i am Bilbo MacPaddywack, and i come from Neverneverland. the fishing is great, but they are a bit small though!

Froddo, Magelite don't bother yourself apologising. What makes this site so good is that up to this point it has been devoid of the muppets that tend to ruin angling clubs and competitions. We've all come across them in our time and alas will continue too.

i think frodo was apologising to me when something he said wasnt clear. i sincerely hope that your comment about muppets ruining angling clubs and competitions does not apply to me - as i have said already, i dont think i have said anything so 'controversial'.

What a coincidence!
I heard on the radio this morning that the muppets were making a comeback. Fishing clubs and forums everywhere are doomed.........

Its really the people who are being smart and passing comments im on about,
oh well as they say honesty sets you free,
so the muppets are back again reminds me of old times when the lads in Limerick SAC used them to great effect for the big huss and conger from the estuary and rock marks...............................
