Hi,
I'm looking to upgrade my beachcaster (rod and reel). I use mainly fixed spool reels and try and keep the rods light as I target flatties and bass most the time so 1-3 oz wight suffuices. I have an Abu 6501 teamed with an Abu Viper bass specialist rod. I would love to upgrade to a Daiwa slosh 20/ Penn mag 525 or even Okuma mag 20. However, I have that dreaded impediment of being right handed but using a multiplier with my left hand.... as I found out recently that the aforementioned reels don't come in left hand models... bummer.
I have had limited success with the abu and have found max distances of up to 110 yards can be achieved but birdnests are the norm unfortunately. It means that I bring the fixed spool just in case all the time!! For these reasons I would prefer tp steer clear of the abu's as I hear the penns ect are much easier to use... It would be great to achieve distances of 150 yards with no birdsnests....
I presume I'm not the only LH/ ambidextrous fisherman.... can...
