Fished Stradbally just beyond Castlegregory thursday night with a couple of mates. conditions were prefect with a good surf rolling, hopes were high.main targets were bass and flatties. fishing was slow for the first few hours of the coming tide with just a few flounder. was fishing two rods, two daiwa sandstorms coupled with evo emcast fixed spool reels. i decided to try using razorfish for a bass since we were just after a storm. i tipped it with mackerel. i stayed using lugworm on the other rod. rigs were two hook clipped down rigs with 2/0 hooks. i got a slack line bite on the rod with the razorfish, i tightened into it and struck and knew there was something heavy on. bout 5 minutes of hard reeling i beached the fish, a 6lb painted ray. ive been only sea fishing for two years but im pretty sure this an unusual catch especially for the time of year. i carefully realeased the ray and almost immediately had a decent knock on my other rod. it turned out to be a 36 cm flounder. a few cast...
