Report:

Tough couple of days fishing. Fished the first session on Little Kilary as I was working in the Galway area for the week. Proved to be a slow few hours, luckily neither of us were hungover or in any way drunk. I started off with a dog after about 40 mins, then Taz followed suit a few mins later with a dog of his own, things were looking up. Soon after this Taz was up chatting when his rod and "tripod" got pulled over by a good bite. He clambered down the rocks to retrieve his gear but unfortunately the fish was off.

Things went quiet again for another hour or so then Taz managed a thornie of 40cm. I was in trouble if things didnt pick up! Missed a good bite soon after this myself, then managed a dog to claw back some of Taz's lead. Was starting to despair at the lack of fish and looked to my right to see how himself was getting on, he was pulling in another doggie  .

With about half an hour to go, I got a good bite in close and after a bit of hauling through the kelp I was rewarded with a thornie of 48cm. Nothing else showed for the day and we spent half an hour afterwards trying to feather a few macs for the following days session.

Final tally after Day one:

Seaniebo: LSD * 2, Ray 48cm
Taz: LSD * 2, Ray 40cm.

Day two saw us fish the picturesque Lacken strand in Co. Mayo. We met up in Killala at 15.30 and immediately agreed upon how healthy and alcohol free we both looked. The ladies would have to wait, there was fishing to be done.

Quiet doesnt even begin to describe this session. Neither of us really knew what to expect but it looked like there should be a few flats knocking around. In a fit of brilliance I had left my bait to par boil in the car from the previous session, so wasnt expecting much anyway. I wasnt disappointed! Long story short I had 3 flats in my last 2 casts and that was our lot for the session apart from tonnes of weed and sea gulls swooping in and diving down to steel our rigs every cast.

Final Tally after Day two:

Seaniebo: Flonder * 3 18cm, 20cm, 23cm.

As I said very slow fishing unfortunately, but sure thats the way it goes sometimes. A pleasure to meet Taz and was thankful to scrape by in the end up.
I require a tremendous amount of calcium

Cook your bait in the car first :!: Interesting Tactic, not sure if it will help the resale value though

Nice report Sean, and well done on scraping by.
