GALLERY NEWS MISSION COPYRIGHT LINKS

Rather than list information on the forums, we have decided to list updates to the site and other information on this page, in chronological order with the most recent updates first.  If you have any information or other bits and pieces you would like to see here, submit it to kieran and make sure to specify a date if it is a notification for a competition or something similar that has a deadline! There is also a section of the online forums now dedicated to sea angling club news / notifications and details of any upcoming angling competitions.

Date Topic Comment
2nd September back and alive oh! Hi

Thankfully no bad news to report bar the impact of the red tide on the fishing but autumn is upon us and the cod have been getting fat... so I'm told! ;-)

12th April Hackers disable boards

Clare Island boat

Sadly hackers have disabled the bulletin boards and at time of writing we fear the worst, namely that four years postings will be lost.  We woudl encourage everyone that has participated to re-register in order to prove to the mindless vandal that their work was as pointless as it was idiotic.  On a positive side the chatroom that K2 had called for is now getting more use and over 50 people are now signed up.

Aaron O'Grady has moved Rosterick II to Clare Island in Clew Bay and is now in a position to take on parties from the newly extended Roonagh Pier.

4th April Clare South update

New Kerry Competition

Thanks to Bill Ryan, we have a few corrections on the south Clare marks, and a minor correction thanks to Mike Hegarty to the Bantry Marks.

We also have a new competition sponsored by Julia Bird and Mike Hegarty, for details, and you will want to win this, check out the bulletin boards.

31st March  Pollack pictures, update on northern Belmullet marks

We have added a few photos from a recent pioneering trip to northern Belmullet on page 19.and thanks to Sean Lavelle's expert advice, I have updated most of the marks on the whole peninsula, including several new marks discovered on the trip.
21st March Thornback Ray Bill Ryan's superb 5 kilo Thornback Ray from Poulnasherry is now up on page 19.

15th March Chatroom & picture The Chatroom is up and running, all we need is someone to organise it.

We also have a nice shore caught Bull Huss on the gallery on page 19.

On the Sea Angling Ireland SAC, IFSA affiliation has been applied for - more anon.

1st March Chatroom

New Front Page

We are making some progress on the chatroom, but it has been complicated by the need to adapt the existing MYSQL dsatabase being used for the bulletin board.

We've also put a nice picture of Barley Cove, about as far west and south as you can travel in Ireland, on the front page of the website, thanks to Mairi and Geoff Woods.

Doh.. and a warm welcome to the club's newest member, Ed Burke!

31st January Codling picture A nice start to 2005, Donal Domeney took a 5 lb 2 oz Codling from "de Wall" in Monkstown in Cork and its is pictured on page 18 of the gallery.

15th January Gilthead Bream and Sea Angling Ireland SAC news Yep, finally a picture of an Irish shore caught gilthead bream from west Cork - check out the details on page 18 of the gallery.

The SAC is coming along nicely with pledges of membership from 15 people.  We will still need some people to help organise competitions so check out HOW TO JOIN.  Annual members for seniors will be 50 Euro and everyone is welcome.

12th January New Sea Angling Club Yep, it has finally arrived!  This website will play host to Ireland's first virtual sea angling club, hopefully affiliated with the IFSA.  The club is open to allcomers, young or old, resident or visiting anglers and will now turn the meets we have had around the country into fully fledged, supervised and properly run competitions.

Let's just hope the fish are not too virtual too!

For more information check the new forum on the bulletin boards (last one).

10th January Happy New Year
Londonderry marks
Hi, Happy New Year to you all.

We have finally brought Co. Londonderry in from the cold with two marks on the shore listing, with thanks to Dingbat.  More information would be very welcome.

For the purposes of download times, the news section will only hold updates from the last year, so anything prior to January 2004 has just disappeared off this page.

27th December New Marks on the Shannon (southside) Hi, many thanks to Eoin for his help with two new marks on the Shannon, offering standard deep water fishing but one with tope added...

We've also updated some of the charter boats who have been kind enough to keep us abreast of what is happening...

Sincere thanks to Matthew Carter for reformatting the pdf on the baits - there is no new information in there (c'mon guys, give us your tips) but it looks far better.

Finally James Guerin makes a return with a monster 28 kilo Conger Eel taken on a trip with Mark Gannon out of Courtmacsherry... check out the gallery on page 15. I suspect this might take some beating for the boat prize this month!!!

Comprehensive Review of Main Guide Areas

Hi, thanks to Eric Hore, we have added twelve new marks to West Cork and specifically the Beara penninsula.

You may also have noticed that the shore guide and species guide are getting a new cleaner look.  I am updating material as I go along but it is a mammoth exercise and will probably take until Christmas to complete... if you have any information you would like to add or entries you would like to see changed...
