Ireland's first online SAC: Club Notices Page

Welcome to Ireland's only virtual sea angling club: Sea-Angling-Ireland SAC.

If you are interested in joining us, have a look at this link.

Formed in January 2005, we are looking to develop the club across five 'provinces'; - Leinster, Munster, Ulster, Connaught and International, the latter thanks to the many UK and other anglers who visit Ireland each year.

Competition Rules:

They are not agreed yet ,but a first draft is available here Competition Rulebook as a PDF so please feel free to download it.  It is likely that they will have to be heavily amended to comply with the Irish Federation of Sea Anglers (IFSA) main competition rules, indeed it appears that this may apply to our constitution as well.

We have sought to ensure that the rules emphasise catch and release and other conservation and safety measures but the final rulebook will be voted for by the members, so join now and help us set the standard.  All suggestions are most welcome.  Please send your preferences (or a copy of your own club's regulations if handy) to clubrules@sea-angling-ireland.org or to SAI SAC, PO Box 59 , Castlebar, Co. Mayo, Ireland.

Constitution:

Being based around this website, and given the huge distances between some members (Cork v. Donegal v. Birmingham for example), our constitution is slightly different and seeks to minimise administration and use the website and technology to the benefit of all the members.  Here is the 3rd draft Constitution (PDF).

A further refinement will allow people use a proxy form to be posted on this website for all Annual General and Emergency General Meetings.

Competition Entry Form & Guide:

To faciliate members a standard competition entry forms incorporating a quick guide to the venue, transport, accommodation, restauarnats pubs etc. will be posted twenty one (21) days in advance of each competition.  We anticipate that each province (bar international!) will be asked to organise at least two competitions, one open and one closed.  More details on this will be posted here shortly.

Here is a draft Competition Notice (WORD document) - all comments welcomed.

We'd like to think that this club can present a set of rules and competition standards that continuously offer an example of best practice in proper managment of a voluntary sporting club, in terms of safety and obviously in terms of conservation minded sea angling. Many thanks in advance for your assistance.

The current officers are:

Club News!

January 2005: John Diamond (jd) has been confirmed as the club treasurer and is checking on bank accounts and documentation.  Kevin McClean has been confirmed as the club secretary (MAC).

February 2005: An informal club meet will be held in Mayo on Sunday 13th February 2005 (organised by Kieran, check the bulletin board for details) with a view to finding the mythical Mayo bass.  Some of the storm beaches around Roonagh are the target, especially if there is a bit of surf to go with the listed four metre tide.  Sandeel is the preferred bait, ideally big ones and presented whole but there will be plenty of flounders and turbot as well, albeit they can vary dramatically in size.  Some plaice have been reported in Galway already.

Communications

We use the bulletin boards, specifically the last one which is set aside for club business.  We are looking at the possibility of hosting a chat room at a later stage this year, but that depends on your preferences.  If personal communication is required, this can be done with total privacy using the private message (PM) function on the bulletin boards or you can give us your email address and we can use that as well/instead.  The use of modern technology means no letters, no posters, none of your annual subscription wasted.
