Ideas welcome!

Postby ardinn » Sun Feb 18, 2018 7:19 pm

So I ordered various oils to try this week and I just discovered none of them will freeze - Which has scuppered one of my plans

I was planning on freezing some oil in a rapid feeder and using that as either the weight on my pennell rigs or flappers. I have weighted rapids so they are plenty heavy.

Now I can't do this because the bloody oil wont freeze.

My question is does anyone have any idea on how to make a slow delivery system that will take a casting, using a liquid attractant?

All ideas welcome, even fairly hairbrained or elabourate ones - I like making things :D

Maybe soak the oil in a bit of sponge?

Why not try one of those plastic balls and fill it up with your oil through a hole then seal it with some oil that you can freeze. It should slowly melts once its down there.

If you really want to... buy a box of cod liver oil tablets, stick one on a hook before you cast. Give it a spray of WD40 to spread it faster. Done!

A bubble float that has two holes to fill it up with water and allow you to cast it out might work just fill it up with the oil leave the stopper off and cast it out the oil will slowly release and the next cast you can fill it up again

Mix the oil with some cooking fat. This will make it solidify, the trick will be to find the correct ratio which will freeze and then melt at the temperature of the water.

Nice idea!!
