Fish ID

Currently in the Canaries on holiday, went down to the shore to catch a few tiddlers on the float. Had plenty of ornate wrasse, then a black, blenny-like fish took a bread bait. It had lots of small teeth and started snapping them when I tried to unhook it, fairly dodgy but I got the hook out. Does anyone know what type of fish it is? Also saw some mullet cruise by, but they weren't interested.
