Tope from a boat mayo!

Postby seank » Wed Aug 26, 2015 6:53 pm

I plan to try for Tope this weekend, or even some specimen Bull Huss in clew bay I have a mark in mind not to far from bertra strand that I know has produced Tope in the past. Strong tidal flow. Any tips on rigs tides baits would be greatly appreciated. Have an idea that I might make some rubby, and was wondering would a float fished mackeral flapper along with one on the bottom be a good idea? Hope someone can help me out... One thing I do know is Ill be fishing with as big a hook as possible as not to be plagued by the dogs :P
Target for 2017: Tope, Bass, Specimen shore pollack, Specimen Sea trout, Turbot over 30cm, common skate

I find a lip hooked Mackerel head to be pretty doggie proof. If you use a flapper, they'll just chew your flaps off (excuse the expression). You'll get a really good hook up rate on any Tope runs you get with the head too.
