If you try mail order you can get the old Ultegra model from Leslie's of Luton (doesn't come with spare spool for the advertised price though, you'll pay extra for it).

There's a brand new Ultegra model out now, I've seen it in the mags and it's got a higher spec than the previous one. it's rrp is £120, but most mail order places will have it for about £100/105 (plus free spare spool). It's top of my Xmas wish list.

it'd be a good job to have the spare spool with it as the original didnt have one with it, my father has an ultegra 12000 which i normally use but when i enquired a couple of years back i think a spare spool for it was somewhere in the region of £40!!
with the new one having an rrp of about £120 and the old one about £150 i wonder where the shortcuts have been taken to upgrade the reel and drop the price though??
guess ill have to wait and see one.
i know they brought out the cheaper versions of the aerlex and biomasters in 8000 sizes etc a couple of years back and IMHO they were not half the reels the originals were.
thanks for the advise steve and john
