was just wondering if any one has got the above reel i was thinking of purchasing one for light scratching. i am looking for a light reel and most of the other reels in the 7000 range seem a little heavy for the rod im after getting.

cheers,

Hi Samo,
i too was in a similar situation a while back.I ended up getting the beastmaster 7000 and im very happy with it.Nice and light and looks nice too 8) The only drawback is that theres no spare spool but easily sorted by getting a 6000 size spool for around 23euro.Ive one spool on .35mm line and the other on .30mm.
Basically if your looking for a reel that is for light shore work that does'nt require miles of line then id go for the 6000 size. Its the same size body as the 7000 just lower diameter capacity on the spool front. My only concern is the reel foot seems very quiet light and narrow and could be a weak point if hauling shed loads of kelp but i just would'nt use the reel in such conditions.

I went for the 7000 its pretty light and balances the rod out nicely. the reel feels nice and smooth as well however i wouldnt say that it is as durable as some of the other shimano reels of the same size no second spool either.
