North Clare 8/5/22

Mon May 09, 2022 10:32 am

It was a mild warm morning on a neap, was hopeful of something on the sandy bottom.
very settled the day before also - thinking fish would come closer to the coastline

hw around 11.30
terns were diving on arrival at 9.30
two northern divers working the coast
as well as various gulls and a cormorant
there must be something feeding below water - right?

3 hours and not a tap
the spiders crabs were about in numbers, nipping off hooks and snoods
mac, sandeel, lug and squid - if the crabs didnt get the baits they were untouched

the coat was off and it was warm near the end, broke a bit of a sweat bringing in the spider crabs

two lads to my right were on feather duty - needless to say = nadda

the mild conditions can fool you but this coastline is a shadow of its past
still good to get out on a nice day and review all the gear and be back early enough to do something else with the day

Agree...that section of coastline is a shadow of the past...not unique though unfortunately
