Red Rock, Sutton, Wednesday 25th August 2004, 11am-3pm
Bait: Lures

Three of us set out spinning here for a chance of a bass. Low tide was at half one. Every type of lure was tried , different retrieves the whole lot but it wasn't to be.

Does any one know the name of the small rock jutting out in front of the stone\cave at red rock. Is low tide the best time to spin here?

Try any plugs?
Its good to fish there at any spot once its low tide, the only time i've produced there. In saying that, havent fished it in a bit.

I tried a good variety of plugs wes but nothing was interested. Regarding plugs , they take a good battering around the rocks, and the colour chips off very fast on some types. Is there any way of preventing this or at least prolonging the colour for while?

George,
I got some clear varnish which done the trick. I think it was urethane based?. Give plugs about 5 coats and it seems to keep them a bit better.

Had the exact same prob George.
Paid €15 for a plug, used it once at RedRock and it chipped to bits.
Went back, bought another. Got some clear Mastik, put on a pair of surgical gloves and rubbed a thin layer of it onto the plug.
Used it a few times, and not a chip to be seen. In some parts I put the mastik "glue(?)" on too thickly and it went a murky white, but if you do it thinly enough, should be fine. Try it with an old unused plug first, which i DIDNT do.....trial and error my friend.
