Hello All,

First post on here, I'm from Cork and have been Fishing since I could hold a Rod, I did a lot of Rock, Boat, Pier fishing especially in my teens and early twenties ( nearly 43 now ) and 1 of my passions is Fly fishing for Salmon, but since my return from living abroad for a number of years, Ive recently gotten back into a bit of Sea fishing, beach and rock, with not much luck i might add, except for Congers :)

Im looking at getting back into Beach fishing etc and was wondering if anyone knows of a great Club that I would be able to join up.

Any help/ advise I appreciate and Thanks.

Kind Regards,

Clive

Most clubs do not start their season until the start of the New Year. So membership now would have to be renewed again in January.
Ask when enquiring about before joining.

Have a look at this link of Munster clubs fixtures. viewtopic.php?f=24&t=49370

Cork Sea Anglers are the only city based club and fish from Ardmore to Bantry
Cloyne and Great Island are East Cork and fish from Youghal to Monkstown
Bass are based in Youghal and fish in and around that area
West Cork fish most of their competitions in their own area but do venture to Youghal for the odd comp.
Crosshaven are mainly a boat club but do hold shore competitions, mostly on Wednesday nights

All the rest are mainly boat clubs

This link is 2 years old but most Secretaries are still the same

Which club (I'm based in cork city but willing to travel) would be best if you're getting back into fishing? I heard that joining a club is the best way to learn new bits and pieces. Looking for pleasure fishing more than competing.... not sure if competition standard what I'm looking for! I'm moreso looking to meet a group that go fishing regularly around the place, to be able to get out fishing more (and hopefully get my first bass)!

Im going to try Cork Sea Angling for start of next season, but in the meantime I will be looking at getting some Codling etc over the next few months, drop me a pm if your interested in heading out after the next few weeks as Salmon season is finishing next weekend, so ill be concentrating on that.
