Certified Scales

Mon Apr 16, 2007 4:08 pm

I picked up a compact digital scales for about 15 euro at the angling show. I brought it over to the metrology centre in Ballymun taking a chance it may be accurate enough to be cerified, and guess what - it is!

Also claim forms for specimens

No- don't know who Jason Dingle is, but no matter, it is the Scales that are certified, not me!

John,

Can you tell me where abouts this place is in Ballymun and do you just arrive and get it certified while you wait?

Thanks

alby if you come into ballymun from the m50 as you come past the garage on your left at the junction just after it turn right.
follow the road for about half a mile there is an industrial estate on the right with a security hut and barriers, go straight ahead they are the last unit you come to.

drop it in with them and they will call you when its ready a few days is normal.

put a tag and your name and number on it also the type of scales it is

Hi Guys,

This is something I would be very interested in. I do alot of kayak fishing, so I don't wan't to kill a specimen wrasse in order to get it ceritified(Had 2 last year). Do scales need to be digital?

Never mind, I just seen this

Fish must be weighed in the presence of independent, reliable witnesses on a properly certified scales, e.g. a shop scales or an official Club scales which is covered by a certificate from the local Weights and Measures officer. Clams can not be accepted in respect of fish weighed on uncertified scales, e.g. anglers spring balances or in respect of fish weighed on scales inappropriate to the size of the fish, e.g. fish in the 2-5 lb range weighed on balances weighing up to 100lbs and over and graduate in large divisions. Claims cannot be accepted in the case of fish which have been weighed on board a boat.
Please note: Weighing scales must be covered by a certificate of Accuracy at the time of weighing. The scales cannot be certified in retrospect i.e. after the fish has been weighed.

Myself & dbrock were discussing this, not sure how it'll work in a kayak though. Put the fish in a barrell or similar, depending on size etc. then weight the fish on land before releasing.

It would be best to give the office a ring first as they spend a lot of time out on the road.

Head office is a few hundred yards from me in Northwood, not in Glasnevin.
