If I was going to Youghal I wouldn't be worried about lugworm it's crab I'd be making sure I had

for crab locally, Tom Maher 087 7941533 or Bhoy32 (John Owens) 086 4091811

You'll dig a few lug at Ferry point in front of the cottage and pick mussel at the left hand corner of the point.

Lug will work fine but as above crab would be my first choice.

I fished Ferrypoint yesterday (by the mussel bed) at around low water and had 2 of my cod on mussel. No shortage of them there a good size and couldn't be fresher. Lug is great also for adding to a used bit of crab or mussel just whip it on with some elastic thread.

It was quite on Ferrypoint yesterday that's why I headed of to better pastures. Last Sunday week it was on the boil and with little time for peeling crab, wrapping a lug or two on to a used bait worked fine. 21 fish and 9 over 3lb
I find when the fish are on the feed it's a case of eat before it is eaten by another fish. You can always spit it out if you don't like it. Oops he forgot about the hook

It may have been quiet on the shore but the 3 boats netting in close proximity to the point were having a decent day judging by the crates of cod they were unloading as I was strolling along the foreshore late in the afternoon.

I know they have to make a living and all, but it just saddens me to see them working so close to shore. Couple more runs like that and Ferrypoint won't be fishing as well . . .

i was down at ferrypoint on friday night last and caught a few codling, i had lugworm freshly dug with me as well as live & frozen crab, the crab caught the codling for me with nota bite from the the lugworm.
I was going post a question looking for someone who supplied crab in youghal, thanks Donal in advance for those numbers.

Headed up the river about a mile. What didn't help was I my tackle box at home   so I was down to 3 rigs.
Two cast up there and two rigs gone in snags   .I headed back down to another spot with one clip down pulley left. 6 casts 6 fish all over 40cm with two of them at 53cm. I lost the rig on the next (serious) fish. got pulled in to the ledge in front of me. A mad 70 minutes of fishing :D :D :D :D

There not netting, you cant hold a net in youghal harbour, theres one boat fishing crab pots the other boats are angling .
