muscles mmm?
I've leftover bait, muscles to be precise collected near the RNLI station in skerries. Question is would they be safe to eat considering their proximity to the harbour?

I can't answer for the location but just checking that you know the general rule that you shouldn't eat them if the shells aren't closed immediately before you cook them , and haven't opened by themselves during the cooking process .ie: in closed , out open is good. Otherwise the fish was most likely dead and deteriorating rapidly before it got to the pot .
Personally I'd eat them if the harbour was clean and not too busy and was no-where near a shipyard where anyone was applying anti-foul paint . But I'd have to be pretty hungry . Open shore is definitely best .
