Brought my 2 lads to Wicklow harbour last week and they had a ball catching whiting Pollack coley codling and their new favourite.. sea scorpion... so after a week of telling their friends all about it they wanted to go again and bring a friend too..I had some frozen Mack and sand eel so quick stop in Swords Angling Centre for a few rag and bit of advice and off we went..arklow beach was first and it was fish every cast but alas they were all doggies kids didn't mind at all and their friend couldn't wait to tell everyone he caught 'sharks' ..after two hours my youngest wanted to move to Wicklow to show his friend a scorpion... it was much the same here with a fish a cast consisting of whiting coley and dab..the lads friend got a bite and reeled in ..when he got it to the surface he shouted ''I have something weird it must be one of those scorpion thingys..I went to have a look only to see him haul up a lobster ..scorpion was no longer the favourite.. the lobster was even christened 'Larry'...after more coley and whiting and a single doggie we packed up and headed for home...the three young anglers dissected the night from the first catch till the last and soon all three were fast asleep ..

''Alas, they were all doggies'', I'd have been ecstatic to be catching fish that size at their age! In fact I'm still often pleased to get a few.

Have a bit of a soft spot for the scorpions myself!

It ain't easy but it sure is simple!
