is there a better option for the money and what size is the best weight for the rod. 6000 or 8000?

Not sure about those two but can recommend the Grauvell Tuareg Boat 5000.

Good size for flicking baits about on the long rods but also more than capable when it comes to 3 up jigging for pollack or pirk casting.

I was looking at the Grauvell Tuareg Boat 5000 but the Grauvell's have been getting abit of a pasting on this site lately.

None at all Scara and it's been abused over the past year, pollack and cod three at a time, spurs in 100m+ depth and breaming at Weymouth with long match rod.

Excellent line lay and smooth anti-reverse for dropping back down tide.

Most of the international anglers I know who are using the Tubertini multi tip rods use the Shimano big baitrunner LC reel, you will not buy better for this type of rod, and that type of fishing, load it to the gills with 20lb braid and you are sorted.

Do you use the baitrunner bit for dropping downtide Dave?

I found that with lighter weights most of the baitrunners wouldn't let the line off either at all or at any speed. Tend to use the Italian method of releasing the anti-reverse now.

Thats what I do with my Daiwa emblems, but the beauty with the shimano is that you can adjust the strength of the baitrunner almost like a drag system, so you can alter it according to weight of lead or tide strength.
four out of five members of the last Couple of Irish Boat teams use this reel.
They cost about 240eu, but I know a tackle dealer who can source them for about 150eu.

Cheers Dave, will have to have a go with the Shimano as other bait runners I've tried are not sensitive enough if using 4oz or less.
