i used them last year and had laods of whiting on them, some keepers too. i used to buy a bag of mixed sea food from lidls and just bind a load of different bits onto a 2/0 hook.

If the prawns or shrimp is fresh, you don't have to worry about it falling off when you cast. :D

i use them a lot, the small cooked ones from lidls work well off rocks and piers on a float. the larger uncooked ones work well for doggies and thornies from the beach...

Used live shrimps tail hooked for Wrasse, Deadly! But you only get one shot at hooking them as the rip the Shrimp off easily...

Ive never used cooked but have seen live prawn catch thornies in the UK. Not sure if they work here.
Have also heard live prawn or shrimp can be deadly off rocks for wrasse but not tried myself.

I picked up a bag of uncooked prawns in the oriental cash and carry in cork and used them to target whiting with great success. I used them a few more times after that and they always worked a treat. Shell them and bind them to the hook with bait elastic. Never tried live shrimp but i've heard good things so i will be trying them for wrasse when the season starts to pick up a bit. Easy pickings from the rock pools so why not give it a shot. :)

Cooked prawns from Tescos is my stand-by bait for when I fancy a session but haven't planned ahead.

Don't use the "coldwater/freshwater prawns" they are too soft and tend to break up when being put on the hook. The other types are much hardier.

Peeled prawns tend to be coma-shaped therefore difficult to thread on to an Aberdeen. What I do is cut the prawn into 3 pieces and thread them individually onto the hook, either 2,3 or 4 pieces per hook depending on size.

I've had lots of wrasse on cooked prawns.

I have 2 packs of raw peeled prawns (Tescos again) in the freezer which I'm going to try asap.
