HI all. just wondering would any one be able to help me out .I'm looking for some where to dig or search for rag worm in the galway area .any Ive found are to small to use and would be a waste to try and fish with. and a waste to kill. I'm not afraid of hard digging or searching.Any bait marks would be great .thanks lads and Lady's.

your going to have to look hard! there are none! what you are finding are the small habour rag.they can be good for flatties and wrasse, but the big rag are all on the east coast, your local tackle shop SHOULD be able to order them for you.

you can but u wont get em yet.well u mite if u no wat they do 4 the colder mouths.as some 1 mentioned the rag this side of ireland r small unless u get in the tackle shops some frozen ones.myself dont really lioke using any frozen worms at all.frozen sandeel.mack.blueys or squid is fine.fishes hold there scent better.buy any of these and dig a few lugs .it will be hard to beat.

You could also try buying online. I am not sure of the quality of the worms but it is an issue that comes up from time to time on the site. Have a look through previous threads.

well all im sorry to say but there is one place i have found to get rag in the galway area but belive me it is very hard digging.. plus i have always found that when i use rag in the west it is not as good as lug,, as lug is on the fishes diet in the west, not like the east coast,,where rag is the most common marine worm....

i wouldnt dismiss rag worm out west at all lucky - curiosity killed the cat  - ive had loads of ballans and pollock when other baits didnt interest

same thing on beaches for flatties - not going for the lug - but the movement of the rag put them on the feed

There is a bank of king rag in Galway not too far from the City.
